Sacrificial anode works by connecting metals with more negative potential such as magnesium, aluminum or zinc-based alloys to the protected metal structure.
The sacrificial anode material corrodes and dissolves preferentially to continuously supply protective current, polarizing the protected metal into the cathodic protection potential range and inhibiting corrosion of the protected material.
Technical Characteristics
No external power supply required. Simple structure, low operation and maintenance cost, and no risk of stray current interference.
It provides relatively low protective current , suitable for medium and small-sized metal structures
Sacrificial anode can be used for buried urban pipelines, small storage tanks, offshore steel structures, ballast tank, ship hull and so on.
